An elephant party for Silas

Silas had a wonderful time being celebrated at his party on Sunday. He said YAY every time he opened a gift...even before he saw what it was :) That is the kind of thankfulness I desire to have! This past week while we prayed as a family for Aunt Amy (who was in Guatemala helping build homes in an impoverished community) we were so aware of how very blessed we are! Not only are all our needs met , but we have more possessions the people there could ever imagine. So Silas' happy gratitude really made me smile

One of the shelters that the family in Guatemala was living in...

...and their new home (which the team built in one day!)

The builders! All members of our church family!

My favorite part about birthdays is the new entertainment!

Learning to sew

Isabella is learning to use my sewing machine and is doing great. I had her start with just one step at a time so she could get comfortable with each aspect of the process, but it didn't take long before she was doing it by herself. She has squares that she cut from some fabric Aunt Debbie gave us and decided she is going to make Elsie a quilt. So sweet!

Naptime

While I was putting the boys down for naps Isabella played "camping"...and was sleeping when I came back downstairs. Since this is the girl who doesn't nap anymore it was a fun surprise for me! :)

Field Trip: Insectarium (warming up in the winter!)

We took a trip to the zoo this week but stayed warm and cozy inside the insectarium...ok so maybe cozy isn't the best description! After viewing scorpions, tarantulas, bees, wasps and roaches Bella suddenly started shrieking...she had seen a housefly buzz past and thought the bugs were escaping :)
